2025 Season review - Equipe Prototypes

As the first full season of Prototype racing run by Club Equipe, Idola were eager to support with the VR Motorsport Praga R1T. Following on from his brief outing last year, American racer Daniel Oliver would take primary driving duties, and it would certainly prove to be a steep learning curve it being the first time Daniel had driven these UK tracks outside of a simulator. Supported by US sponsor AIEA sports clothing, Daniel would drive the Praga at Brands Hatch Indy (qual - 7th, race 1 - 7th, race 2 - 5th), Silverstone National (qual - 8th, race - 6th) & Silverstone GP (qual - 9th, race 1 - DNF (mechanical), race 2 - 9th). Daniel’s performance in the car improved dramatically during the year and this was borne out by increasingly good results. Silverstone GP was probably his toughest challenge due to the conditions, with torrential rain throughout the race.

But it wasn’t just Daniel that got behind the wheel of the Praga’s, Arden/YRDA GB4 driver Leon Wilson made a guest appearance at the Silverstone GP round and was immediately impressive with a front row qualifying position, 4th in race 1 and an incredible 2nd in race 2, only beaten by an LMP 3 car which was in a class of its own.

Rob Cull, one of the leading lights of Equipe Prototypes had his first taste of the Praga at Donington Park in June. This was his first proper taste of a lightweight high downforce prototype and he was mighty impressed.

And a Praga season would not be complete without VR/Rowe Oil/Idola regular Jack Fabby with another guest drive. Fresh from back to back wins in Historic Masters paired with racing legend Jan Magnussen, Jack brought home the silverware yet again with a pole position in qualifying, 2nd in race 1 and a win in race 2.
